5th to 2nd century B.C. Balbal found at Baite well, Ustyurt Plateau, depicts a female warrior chieftain. Balbal scuptues served a variety of purposes including memorials at grave sites, deification of ancestors, mounuments to honor a defeated enemy or tribal boundary maerkers. Kazakhstan
